Pinterest is one of those unconventional social applications that are both unique yet highly addicting. Pinterest isn’t your average social media application. It’s not like Facebook or Instagram where you can share your photos and make friends to talk with. It’s more of a platform where like-minded people can discover each other, share their interests and maybe start up a conversation (although it really isn’t necessary!). Pinterest is a free to use application with a poster board like format. It’s available on both mobile and PC devices for both Android and iOS users.
In order to start your Pinterest journey, you’ll need to make an account for it. This can be done by connecting to your Google Plus account, your Facebook or directly through your email account. Without making an account on Pinterest, the app is not accessible but you may be able to use the PC version at a minimum.
Pinterest gives off colorful and diverse vibes on first impression. When you log in to your account, you’ll immediately be asked to choose your interests and things you’d like to see on your Pinterest homepage. Once you’ve fed everything to the app, you’ll instantly be thrown to a homepage with a lot (and we mean – a lot!) of images and pictures that may interest you.
Pinterest is therefore a place where images and the websites they come from are shared according to your preferences. If you’re into anime, expect a feed that is full of Japanese animations and characters. On the other hand, if you’re into cooking you can get your hands on some of the best recipes the internet has to offer.
This app is also a great place for DIY lovers. In fact, the popularity of Pinterest rose because of this very genre. This app is the place to go if you want to find out new and innovative ideas for a birthday party décor or if you want to find out DIY hacks for organizing your items.
On Pinterest, users can make their own boards which can be personalized the way they want it. This way, any image you come across can be directly saved in the board dedicated for that particular type of image. If you want to ever recruit the image again, all you need to do is open up that board.
Since Pinterest is essentially a social app, there are some major elements of socialization and to commune with other people on the app. For example, you can choose to follow any other user or follow the boards they make. This way you’ll constantly stay updated with what that person is sharing or discovering on their account. Similarly other users can follow your boards and your account so they can also keep track of your activity in the app.
Although Pinterest features pictures mostly, you can also come across other interesting things like articles and beauty tips. Pinterest is a wonderful place to improve your lifestyle aesthetic, keep up to date with the latest fashion trends or collaborate with friends on home DIY projects. Because of the enormous content Pinterest hosts, it’s natural that the size of this app is quite large and takes a decent amount of space on your phone. If you have a phone with a smaller than average RAM or an outdated Android version, you might find this app too heavy and even lag at times.
Saved images and personalized boards also make Pinterest a much easier platform to navigate. For starters, however, Pinterest might seem a bit puzzling. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, just to be clear. But those who use and love Pinterest might find it to be their favorite social app on their phones.
Pinterest is one of the top apps in the Social app category, which belongs to Pinterest. It's last update was on November 3, 2017 and it has been already downloaded 100,000,000 - 500,000,000 times. On the app store it has now 3,581,535 reviews. After you get to Pinterest page on the app store, click install & enjoy it.
